Theme for Book Week

Book Week 2016

Australia: Story Country is the theme for our 2016 Book Week events. In the weeks leading up to Book Week, each of the shortlisted books from the Children's Book Council of Australia will be read to the children and promoted by the library monitors at their weekly assembly. The week before Book Week, students will be challenged to vote for the book that they think will win the Book of the Year Award. Those who have chosen correctly, will go into a draw to win a Book Fair voucher and all those who choose correctly will win a small prize!

The Book Fair is run concurrently with Book Week and last year sold an incredible $20,000 worth of books, which means the Learning Centre had about $6,000 of credit to spend on resources in 2016. The Learning Centre is committed to spending $2000 on the Australian Standing Order, which each month provides the school with the latest quality Australian Picture Books, International Picture Books, Primary Popular Titles and Christmas Orders.

Events during Book Week will include:

* a K-2 Book Character Parade

* a 3-6 theatrical performance called "Fair Dinkum", which showcases the Australian CBCA shortlisted books.
